The timeline of the unnamed novel is revealed to be 64 years prior to the books' beginning. In the movie adaptation of the novels, Jennifer Lawrence took the role of female protagonist Katniss Everdeen.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the author affirmed that she will trade back and focus on the years after the so-called Dark Days, the unsuccessful rebellion taking place in Panem in the city. The Hunger Games triptychs were set in a dystopian oppressed world where youngsters were compelled to battle and murder each other as an amusement lived on TV.
