Street Dancer 3D VS Panga Box Office Day 1: Varun’s Film Ten Times Higher Than Kangana’s

2020 opens with several hotly anticipated films from Chhapaak to Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior. While these releases are still in its theatrical run, two other much awaited films Kangana Ranaut-starrer Panga and Varun Dhawan-Shraddha Kapoor’s Street Dancer 3D also hit the screen. They are clashing at the box office and here is the opening day collection report.

Kangana’s film had a slow beginning on Friday with the collection of around 2.5 crore. Meanwhile, the dancing drama of Varun and Shraddha had a flying start with an impressive opening with roughly Rs 11 crore which is nearly ten times higher than that of Panga.

For those unversed, Panga is estimated to be made on a budget of  Rs 25 crore and Street Dancer 3D, on the other hand, comes with a much higher budget, at Rs 95 crore. However, Varun’s film is garnering a positive response from the critics and the audiences and performed very well in Mumbai circuit alone.

The battle of box office collection

Helmed by Remo D’souza, other than Varun Dhawan and Shraddha Kapoor, the film Street Dancer 3D also feaures Nora Fatehi and Prabhuheva in the important roles. In the film, Varun and Shraddha step into passionate dancers’ shoes and it’s the third iteration of dancing series of director Remo.

Earlier, in an interaction with media, Varun spilled the beans on the decision to do this film. He said he did it just because he wanted to do it. The idea totally stuck with him for a year and he felt he should do a film about it.

Meanwhile, film Panga features Neena Gupta, Richa Chadha and Jassie Gill alongside Kangana Ranaut. The film talks about the comeback journey of a woman who outdoes herself to back to her professional life as a kabaddi player post marriage and motherhood.
