Maha Govt Orders Shutting Down Of Malls And Theatres Due To Coronavirus Threat

On Friday, Maharashtra government ordered shut down of malls, swimming pools,theatres, and gyms in several parts of the state. So far 17 persons have been tested positive for coronavirus in the state of Maharashtra. Pune reported 10 cases, three each in Mumbai and Nagpur and one in Thane. Schools in Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad will remain shut apart from the ongoing board exams for 10th and 12th standards.
Several rumours were doing rounds on social media platforms regarding government of Maharashtra calling a shutdown of all government offices since further notice. Messages such as schools all over Maharashtra will shut down due to coronavirus were sent across social media platforms. This led to panic among parents living in the state. However, while addressing the media, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray rubbished all rumours and stated that only the schools in Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad will be shut.
Recently, Delhi government issued notifications that they will not allow a single cricket match of Indian Premier League to be organized. IPL is one of the premier cricket league in which several foreign cricketers participate. But the IPL organizers have now postponed the matches until April. New dates of which will be announced by the organizers. Several netizens now demand that the Maharashtra government should announce a complete ban on public gatherings and IPL in the state.
Similarly, several Bollywood celebrities including Salman Khan and Hrithik Roshan have cancelled their global events due to the recent outbreak of coronavirus. The team of Zee Cinema Awards 2020 in a media statement announced that they will be cancelling the event but it will be telecasted on March 28. The tickets have been cancelled and money will be refunded to the audience. IIFA which was to be organized in Guwahati, Assam stands cancelled due to the pandemic.
