Is this virus like SARS?

Some differences, some similarities.

2019-nCoV and SARS

Finding the most different between the outbreak of SARS, MERS and nCoV here:

  • SARS: first reported in China in 2002, spread to 27 countries, infecting around 8,000 people and killing 700.
  • MERS: more tenacious, first emerged in 2012 in Jordan and about 2,500 cases of the disease.

Like SARS and unlike MERS, this nCoV presents symptoms that are easy to identify. And at the time of the infection, there were no vaccines for preventing three viruses, SARS, MERS, and now nCoV.

During SARS, China had a low response to Sars and now they once again were accused of this outbreak. Hopefully, China and the world stay strong to over come this outbreak soon.
