The ensemble star cast of the upcoming film features several actors from various film industries across the country. Jayam Ravi and Trisha will also be seen together in the hugely anticipated movie. If fresh reports are to be believed, Trisha will be seen in the role of actor Jayam Ravi's sister in Ponniyin Selvan. The news has surprised their fans to no end as Trisha and Jayam Ravi have previously played each other’s romantic interest in several successful films, including Sakalakala Vallavan (2015), and Bhooloham (2015).

In the high-profile film, she essays the role of Kundavai, the sister of Arulmozhi Varman, and Aditya Karikalan, which are to be played by Jayam Ravi and Vikram respectively. But one thing that cannot be ignored here is the fact that Kundavai is the heroine of the movie.

Ponniyin Selvan is being touted as one of the biggest period dramas ever made in the Tamil film industry. It is also going to be the biggest film in the career of Mani Ratnam. In addition to Trisha, Jayam Ravi and Vikram, the film also features Karthi, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Vikram Prabhu, Aishwarya Rajesh, Aditi Rao Hydari, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Jayaram, Sarathkumar, Prabhu, and others. A. R. Rahman has composed the music for the film. Mani Ratnam is co-producing the film in association with Lyca Productions. It may enter theatres towards the end of the year or early next year.
