Sujeeth needs no introduction! The earth-shattering success of his last directorial Saaho (2019) catapulted him to overnight fame. Starring Baahubali Prabhas and Shraddha Kapoor in pivotal roles, the action entertainer hit theatres in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi and emerged as one of the highest-grossing movies of 2019. Despite receiving poor reviews from the majority of critics, the film went on to do outstanding business at the cash counter.
After the great success of Saaho, cinephiles were waiting for the next project of Sujeeth. Though he has not confirmed any new directorial project as yet, the report says that the young filmmaker has been roped in to direct the Telugu remake of superstar Mohanlal’s blockbuster Malayalam film Lucifer (2019).
Talking to a publication, superstar Chiranjeevi confirmed that Sujeeth has come on board to direct the remake of Lucifer. He also added that the filmmaker is presently working on the script and making some necessary changes to suit Telugu sensibilities. We hope to hear more about the project once the Coronavirus lockdown is lifted.
Headlined by Malayalam superstar Mohanlal, Lucifer has gained the status of being one of the most iconic movies of Malayalam cinema in no time. The film marked the directorial debut of another Malayalam superstar Prithviraj Sukumaran and was produced by Antony Perumbavoor. In addition to Mohanlal, it also featured Vivek Oberoi, Tovino Thomas, Indrajith and Manju Warrier on its ensemble cast.
In September last year, speaking at the pre-release event of Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy (2019) in Kerala, Prithviraj announced that the remake rights of his directorial has been bought by Chiranjeevi. Some media reports also revealed that Chiranjeevi’s superstar son Ram Charan will also play an important role in the remake. He may essay the role originally played by Tovino Thomas or Prithviraj Sukumaran. More details are awaited.
