Allu Arjun, who next stars in Icon, will not feature in the Telugu remake of superhit Malayalam film Lucifer. The remake features Arjun’s uncle Chiranjeevi in the titled role.

Allu Arjun is currently riding high on the humongous success of his recent release Ala Vaikunthapurramloo (2020), co-starring Pooja Hegde and Tabu. The actor next stars in action entertainer Icon, followed up by a multilingual film titled Pushpa. Rumours have been rife lately in Tollywood that the superstar has also been lined-up to play a cameo in one of his uncle Chiranjeevi’s upcoming projects.

As we all know that Chiranjeevi, who was last seen in Sye Raa Narsimha Reddy (2019), has acquired the remake rights of superhit Malayalam film Lucifer (2019). While the superstar plays the lead role himself, Allu Arjun has reportedly been approached to reprise the role which Malayalam actor Prithviraj Sukumaran played in the original.

However, a publicist managing Allu Arjun has quashed the baseless reports. The publicist took to the micro-blogging site Twitter and wrote that the reports of Allu Arjun featuring in the official Telugu remake of Lucifer are not true.

Starring Malayalam superstar Mohanlal in the titular role, Lucifer is considered one of the finest films to have ever come out of Malayalam cinema. It marked the directorial debut of superstar Prithviraj Sukumaran, and also featured Vivek Oberoi, Manju Warrier, Tovino Thomas and Indrajith in important roles. Commercially, Lucifer was one of the highest grossing movies of 2019.

Telugu filmmaker Sujeeth, who called the shots for PrabhasSaaho (2019), has been roped in to helm the Telugu remake of the blockbuster film. The director is currently working on the script and making necessary changes to suit Telugu sensibilities.

If reports are to be believed, Ram Charan may also be seen in a crucial role in the remake. Buzz has it that if not Allu Arjun, Ram may step into the shoes of Prithviraj. An official announcement is highly awaited.
