#MeToo Movement: Nadigar Sangam Constitutes Internal Complaints Committee

On 13rd October, the actor Vishal made an announcement which involves the establishment of a probe committee with three members by Nadigar Sangam. This committee will be responsible for investigating sexual assault and misconduct accusations that have emerged since the prevalence of #MeToo movement.
Ever since this ongoing movement in India, Nadigar Sangam which is also known as the South Indian Artistes Association has declared that it will constitute the Internal Complaints Committee.
On Monday, President Nasser as well as Treasure Karthi summoned the Special Working Committee meeting of Nadigar Sangam. A statement from the press release was that there had have Sangam laws in order to protect the members’ self-respect and rights, However, there is still a need for an establishment of a lawfully-authorized Vishaka committee.
And, according to this statement, the ICC would function as the neutral body. Additionally, the statements also revealed that most of the members of this committee would be women. Besides, it comprises a psychologist member.
More than that, Nadigar Sangam encouraged the TPFC to constitute the redressal apparatus with a view to tackling the conflicts and disputes which emerge during shoots. Members from Nadigar Sangam also demanded Tamil Film Producers Council to add South India’s Film Employees Federation as well as Tamil Nadu Film Directors Association to that redressal mechanism.

On 13rd October, the actor Vishal who is the President of TPFC and Nadigar Sangam’s General Secretary had made an announcement following harassment accusations. It was that they definitely would establish a probe committee. And it has three members who would take charge of investigating into such issues. Then, he continued his talk that they are constituting this special committee which will address all bodies. These bodies are Film Chamber, Nadigar Sangam, TFPC, as well as FEFSI.
