According to some reports, writer Rakesh Bharti has reached the Bombay High Court claiming that Chhapaak was inspired by his writing of a survivor from an acid attack. The petitioner stated that he should be marked to be amongst the film’s writers.
In the filed suit, Rakesh clearly defined that he comprised a script for his project named Black Day and registered it at the Indian Motion Pictures Producers’ Association four years ago. Since then, he has completed the story and reached out to some actors and filmmakers such as Fox Star Studios for narrating it. However, he failed to do it as there were some unavoidable situations when the Chhapaak producers submitted their script to Fox Star Studios.
Rakesh’s advocate Ashok Sarogi explained that later the plaintiff knew the project under the defendants’ production and Meghna Gulzar’s direction. The writer had talked to the filmmakers but no one replied to him so that he came to the Bombay High Court.
Rakesh Bharti declared in the plea that he should be credited as among the writer line of Deepika Padukone starrer-film Chhapaak. He continued that the release date of the film would be delayed until when his credit is approved. Further than expected, he looked for a film expert to see the similarity of Chhapaak script with his one. Sarogi also confirmed that the high court’s vacation bench will listen to the plea on December 27th.
Meanwhile, Chhapaak is constructed on the basis of acid attack victim Laxmi Agarwal’s life. The biopic features Deepika Padukone and Vikrant Massey in the main characters. It also a benchmark in Deepika’s producing career as a debutant and is scheduled to hit the theatre on January 10th next year. The much-awaited movie will face a box office clash with the film Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior starring Ajay Devgn and Kajol in the lead roles.
