Bombairiya review: Revolving around the story of Meghna (Radhika Apte), the plot seems to fall apart at the midpoint.

Mumbai (earlier known as Bombay), India's largest city, the heart of the Bollywood, it’s definitely the most bizarre city of the country. Mumbai is peaceful, hospitable, and friendly but it can also be fierce, bustling and complicated at the same time. And the film Bombairiya has successfully captured that unique vibe of the city with humor and actions.

The film revolves around the story of Meghna, who gets involved in a series of chaos after her phone gets stolen. The chaos starts to falling apart when the plot is going towards the midpoint. Bombairiya has crammed with so many characters and actions that it makes the plot seem stuck and breathless.

Check out the trailer of Bombariya:

Bombariya has an unstoppable flow of energy, but sometimes it seems too much. You always see the characters running and running like they’re trying to escape from themselves and even from the audiences. Before the chaotic events eventually make sense together with the narrative of the characters, the audiences seem to be so overwhelmed with too many people bustling and hustling that they wanted the complicated plot to be put together anyways. Random strangers are brought together to explain the events that happened relatedly to the others.

In the movie, Meghna (Radhika) was running around a flirty film star named Karan Kapoor (Ravi Kishan) when she got into a fight with a scooter rider (Siddhant Kapoor). Then a kind handsome man named Abhishek (Akshay Oberoi) intervened to help her. Abhishek then turned out to be the one who helped Meghna solve all the problems. He gave Meghna his sneakers when she lost her shoes, he talked to her dad about her messed up love life, and went on an unexpected adventure with her, which sometimes make it hard for the audiences to understand what was happening.

Everything somehow ended up awkwardly at a church.

However, the plot and the performances of this film are still highly rated for some points. For example, Shilpa Shukla, in the role of the bossy wife of Ravi Kishan, appeared in just a few scenes but managed to capture everyone’s attention and her acting went well with the beat of the film. Or Dhanendra Kawade as a policeman trying to make things right in a mischievous situation.

As for the actors, they are all dazzling and brilliant. Radhika Apte always successfully handle all the problems that she encounters even when she’s in ruthless troubles such as having to do an unexpected kiss scene with Akshay’s soon-to-be fiancé who turned out to be a lesbian, or being made to sing a Bhajan to Akshay’s parents (played by Abhijit Bhor and Paromita Chatterjee).

Actor Ravi Kishan played as a super star in "Bombairiya".

Siddhant also did an excellent performance in the role of an unwilling partner in crime. Actor Adil Hussain played as a politician giving orders behind bars and actor Amit Sial as a key role who takes and carry out the rules. These two characters, with silent smirks on their faces, pushed the chaotic drama to its climax. Yet my favorite actor in Bombariya is Akshay, his acting is never disappointing.

Akshay Oberoi was able to get rid of the dull image of an innocent character. And although the plot may be confusing and complicated sometimes, you certainly will be entertained until the end of the film.

The characters may run into some hilarious trouble, but everything worked out just fine, and it’s definitely not the act of God.
