UP CM Yogi Adityanath Skips Attending Father's Funeral Due To Coronavirus Lockdown

His father Anand Singh Bisht breathed his last in the morning of April 20th in Delhi. But because of the coronavirus lockdown, he won't attend the funeral.

On Monday, Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Aditaranath announced that he won't appear in his father's last rites today to enforce the COVID-19 lockdown. His father Anand Singh Bisht passed away on Monday morning when he was at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Delhi.

He further added that not many people would attend his father's funeral following the rule of the lockdown. Awanish K Awasthi, the State Additional Chief Secretary (Home) shared the news:

"Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's father left for his heavenly abode at 10.44 am. Our deepest condolences."

Working as a forest ranger, Yogi's father made retirement in 1991. A doctor from AIIMS Delhi confirmed that he had undergone treatment in the hospital since March 13 and died of multi-organ failure. He was kept in the intensive care unit (ICU) and supported by a ventilator.

An anonymous senior doctor stated:

"He had multiple issues; his kidneys and liver were not working optimally; he was on dialysis and other life-saving measures and was being treated by a multi-disciplinary team of specialists."

Besides the issues related to his liver and kidney, the 81-year-old man also had hypotension, severe liver infection, and intense dehydration.

After hearing the news of Chief Minister Yoga Adityanath's father's death, several political diplomats expressed their condolences such as Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh, Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel, and former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath.

CN Kamal Nath took to Twitter to pen his mournful message that read:

"My heartfelt condolences at the passing away of Anand Singh Bisht ji, father of UP CM Yogi Adityanath ji. May his soul rest in peace. May God give Yogi ji and his family members strength to bear the loss."
