Mumbai Lockdown: Chief Minister Announces The City Will Be Shutdown In The Wake Of Coronavirus

The announcement of the office came after India recorded three more new cases tested positive for COVID-19. The Chief Minister further added that the employees of such offices will work from home.

Mumbai lockdown is perhaps the hottest keyword of the day after the breaking announcement of Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray. He recently went on record to urge all non-essential businesses in Mumbai, Pune, MMR region, Nagpur and Pimpri Chinchwad to close amid the Coronavirus outbreak.

The announcement of the office came after India recorded three more new cases tested positive for COVID-19. The Chief Minister further added that the employees of such offices will work from home. If this situation is impossible, the offices will have to temporarily shut the operations. The order from chief minister will come into force from tonight, 20 March and continue until 31 March.

Thackeray asked all the employers to not cut the employees’ salaries during the Mumbai lockdown.

The shutdown will close everything except for vital services like banking, internet, telephone, transportation, drinking water, vegetables, food, hospitals, groceries, medical centers and stores, and electricity.

Elaborating further over the same Cm Uddhav said that the plan of stopping bus services and local trains are yet to be agreed. The state is currently taking strict measures because the residents are not seriously doing social distancing.

He added that the government is trying to handle the financial crisis and will officially announce the ways soon.

According to the latest update, India has 206 confirmed cases positive for COVID-19 and 5 people have been killed. The nation had to close international flights, cinema halls, malls, pubs, restaurants or any place where people can gather. Universities, colleges, and schools have postponed their exams also.
