Lockdown States In India: Where, When And What Is Shut?

The novel Coronavirus’s development is getting more complicated and the number of cases diagnosed positive for COVID-19 is bigger every day. In a major attempt to curb the spread of this pandemic in India, the Centre and state governments have decided to impose lockdown in 82 districts across the nation until March 31. However, the officials said that the interstate bus services which serve the commuting purposes have been suspended till that day.
For those who are unversed, the decision was reached at the high-level meeting of the Centre and state governments’ representatives including chief secretaries from all states, also including lockdown states in India, the cabinet secretary, and principal secretary on Sunday. The announcement came right on the day the whole country observing unprecedented shutdown ‘Janta Curfew’ which is known to be an effort to combat coronavirus spread called by Prime Minister, Narendra Modi.
At a media briefing taking place on 22 March, the joint secretary from the health and family welfare department, Lav Agarwal, said that this lockdown is considered a “natural and logical extension” of the curfew.
Due to the urgent need to prevent the coronavirus outbreak, the imposition was agreed to extend the restrictions on other means of passenger transportation comprising of interstate buses until 31 March, said by the Union Home Ministry official. That means that the fundamental services are allowed to continue in the lockdown states in India.
The lowdown below will give you the details of 23 states that have imposed shutdown.
In the big states like Punjab, Nagaland, Uttarakhand, Delhi, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and Rajasthan, the lockdown is state-wide while in others, a few districts have been put under the shutdown.

Punjab
The state’s Chief Minister Caption, on Sunday, went on record to order shutdown on the entire state to arrest the growing number of confirmed cases.
All fresh COVID-19 cases were reported from Nawanshahr district and took the total number of confirmed cases in this state to 21.
The official urged the residents to leave their homes except for the emergency situation and asked people to follow health safeguards.
Nagaland
Even though Nagaland hasn’t reported any Coronavirus case yet, the state government also imposed an indefinite lockdown. During the shutdown, the movement purposes will be restricted unless they have to buy essential commodities or medical facilities.
Delhi
Services like Uber and Ola won’t be available till 31 March in Delhi amid the lockdown states in India. the fact is the total number of confirmed cases in the national caption climbed to 30 on Sunday. The capital’s borders will stay sealed while necessary services about health, water, food, and power supply must continue and only 25% of DTC buses would be allowed to run.
Uttar Pradesh
16 districts including capital Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh have been put under lockdown. The shutdown has been enforced in the first phase in districts like Lucknow, Agra, Ghaziabad, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Varanasi, Kanpur, Allahabad, Aligarh, Lakhimpur Kheri, Moradabad, Bareilly, Meerut, Azamgarh, Gorakhpur, Pilibhit and Saharanpur.
Maharashtra
This state registered the highest number of Sars-CoV-2 patients so far in the whole country. All types of travel and gatherings are banned.
West Bengal
The West Bengal government has locked down the state including both the urban and rural areas till 27 March. No public transport comprising of autorickshaws and taxis, except for those going to and from airports, hospitals, railway and bus stations, essential commodities, will be allowed.
