India is not reported to have 294 positive cases with coronavirus and 4 of them died. Just yesterday, the government announced the lockdown of Mumbai when the condition is getting more serious. Earlier, Balram Bhargava - the general director of the Indian Council for Medical Research (ICMR) - stated that the nation is on Stage Two of the coronavirus outbreak. To know what it means, find the information below!
Balram Bhargava claimed: "There are four stages. The third stage is community transmission which we hope we shouldn't have. It would depend on how strongly we close our international borders, in terms of which government has taken very proactive steps. But we can't say with surety that community transmission won't happen."
So, let's find out all stages of a pandemic spread!
- Stage 1: Infected cases come from the other countries which are reported to be affected and patients are mostly travellers or those studying or working abroad.
- Stage 2: Local transmission. It means that people who contact or communicate with patients will be affected. In this stage, the government can acknowledge and control the outbreak of the pandemic when tracing the related people.
- Stage 3: Community transmission. Some countries in the world have witnessed this stage of coronavirus outbreak as there are patients who didn't reach the affected places or contact with infected people detected positive. When a country encounters this stage, the pandemic is hard to control and find the origin of the virus.
- Stage 4: It's called an epidemic for this stage when many people are infected with the virus. If coming to this stage, the infection will never end.
What are solutions from the government to fight against the coronavirus outbreak?
Heading to this query in the community, Balram stated: "We have already placed orders for 1 million probes, reagents and primers are unlimited. We have also requested WHO to provide us 1 million probes. We are also operationalizing through two high-throughput systems, which are the rapid testing laboratories. They will be operationalized in two locations and they can test up to 1,400 samples per day in those labs."
A lot of measures have been implemented to prevent the coronavirus outbreak. Above all, we need to cooperate with the government in the battle against this pandemic. Do as what this video of WHO instructs:
