COVID-19 Tracker: App To Track Movement Of Coronavirus Quarantined Patients In Chandigarh

The administration in Chandigarh has currently launched the COVID-19 Tracker app on mobile phones to be on home quarantined people's tails. Since there have been some reported people breaking the rule, it comes to this decision. The app will help to geotag all people who are under quarantine at home. It will ring up if someone flouts the order.

With IT professionals' help, the app was developed by the Chandigarh government, according to Nilambari Jagdale, the Senior Superintendent Chandigarh Police.

He stated: "It will tack those who have been quarantined. If they leave their area of quarantine say by fifty to seventy meters then an alert will be generated. We have allotted user ID and passwords to all 16 SHOs of 16 police stations of Chandigarh. The health and police teams will get a notification. The team can go to the spot and find out what made the person concerned to leave the area. In case there is any difficulty it will be solved. If any willing violation of quarantine then a legal action will also be taken."

Jagdale further added that due to the COVID-19 Tracker app, the administration can control the number of people and the infected cases inside the city as well. Since then, those who are tracked to interact closely with the coronavirus patients will be forced to stay and quarantine at home.

To make the process completed, the home quarantined people will be asked to download the COVID-19 Tracker app to verify their geography tag and location. Nilambari Jagdale said:

"The SHOs of the area concerned will also get an access to the administration of the app and will also get alert on their phones. A control room has also been set up to track the geo-tagged people."

Earlier, there is an official tracking app of COVID-19 in India whereas, in Karnataka, the administration developed a selfie app to ask everyone there to send their hourly selfies of home quarantine.
