The Lion King Live-Action Remake Casts Comedian Amy Sedaris As Voice Of New Original Character

The cast for The Lion King live-action continues to grow.  The comedian Amy Sedaris is reported to have boarded on the voice cast with a new character.

Disney's new rendition of The Lion King helmed by Jon Favreau stars Donald Glover in the role of Simba, Chiwetel Ejiofor is the voice behind Scar and Beyonce Knowles-Carter plays as Nala.

Sedaris is familiar with doing voice work for snarky animals. She has lent her voice to Princess Carolyn in Netflix's original animated series BoJack Horseman. In recent years, she has also done voice work on shows like "Regular Show" and  "Steven Universe" and starred in "My Life as a Zucchini". Besides her voice work, Army Sedaris is probably best famous for her comedy show Strangers with Candy.

In the Lion King remake, Sedaris will render for an elephant shrew, small mouse-like creatures known for long noses, vaguely resembling elephant trunks. That's pure speculation as no further details on her role have been unveiled so far.

James Earl Jones, who provided his voice for Mufasa in the original version, reprised his character in Jon Favreau's film. Other cast members include John Kani, John Oliver, Keegan-Michael Key, Billy Eichner, Eric Andre, and Seth Rogen.

Earlier this year, four songs include 'Hakuna Matata', 'Circle of Life', 'I Just Can't Wait to Be King', 'Can You Feel the Love Tonight' will feature in the live-action version. The film is slated to release on July 19, 2019.
