Robert Pattinson has officially stared the Batman in the upcoming directorial film of Matt Reeves about the Caped Crusader. He inherits the character from Ben Affleck who disappointed critically and commercially after 3 films, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Suicide Squad and Justice League.
As the fighter named Bruce Wayne against billionaire crime, Pattinson will assume a full-body costume in black to fight the baddies in Gotham city, which is titled The Batman. Prior to being set for release in 2021, The Batman was scheduled originally to begin shooting in 2017 and will be the first film that Caped Crusader takes a solo to form a part of the DC Extended Universe.
According to Variety, Robert Pattinson beat the other candidates for casting on the shortlist including Nicholas Hoult to close the deal with The Warner Bros studio to take on the nocturnal superhero.
Robert Pattinson is well-known for his breakthrough performances relatively in Harry Potter and the vampire Edward Cullen in Twilight franchise. After that, instead of working with some directors such as James Gray, Davis Cronenberg with Cosmopolis, the Safdie brothers with the film Good Time in 2017 and David Michôd, it has taken several years for the 33-year-old actor to steer clear of his role in the mainstream.
Pattinson has recently collaborated with Claire Denis, a French director, in an erotic mystery named High Life which won him considerable acclaim. Robert Pattinson also plays a role in top best-reviewed films in the Cannes festival this year called Robert Egger’s The Lighthouse which is a psychodrama set in Maine in the 19th century.
The Batman was described as a return to the things Christopher Nolan did to his trilogy of Dark Knight. This version is quite different from the character of Ben Affleck in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League as well as an interpretation for what director Zack Snyder persuaded that Batman is an unrepentant murderer.
Robert Pattinson’s Batman will be welcomed by the audience or not, based on his ecstatic acting. But we can be sure that he will keep his name reputable in the mainstream of Hollywood.
