The onset of autumn means, the season of myriad festivities, big fat weddings and more. Indian festivals like Ganesh Chaturthi has already come while Onam, Dushera, Diwali are just around the corner. What’s common in all the festivals is the resplendent colours, the emphasis on jewellery and authentic ethnic wear from lehengas and sarees, to suits and anarkalis.
There are some colours that are always associated with festivals, but look like our Bollywood celebrities have recently been obsessed with the colour of blood, which can add panache and amp up their looks right away.
It might seem excessive to wear the same colour head-to-toe, especially when it’s something as bold as red; but it’s easier than you’d think. Sonam Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, Sara Ali Khan and others show how you can wear head-to-toe red like a boss lady.
Starting with the Bollywood Queen Deepika Padukone, who looked timelessly elegant draped in a striking red Faabiiana sari. The pleated detailing and the halter-necked blouse made it an unusual drape, and yet perfect for a classy event. DeePee balanced her outfit with a multi-layered necklace and drop earrings.
She kept her beauty look simple as well—shimmery eyes and heavy highlighter juxtaposed with brown lips, all brought together by her signature ponytail. There is no denying the fact that Deepika is one of the most stylish and beautiful Bollywood celebs who never fail to give fashion goals to her fans.
Sonam Kapoor Ahuja, who is busy with the promotions of her upcoming film The Zoya Factor, has been evidently playing with the colour red. Donning in a bandhgala saree with a full-sleeve blouse and the flowy skirt, the Neerja actor looked royal. The look was accessorized with stunning earrings from Lalchnd jewellers and rounded out with hair styled into a perfect braid and subtle make-up.
With red being her go-to colour, the Veere Di Wedding actor was recently spotted in yet another red ensemble and we ought to admit that we simply love the look! Seen wearing a chiffon full-length red Anarkali suit with scarlet tree grid dupatta, we like how her overall look was kept simple balancing out the busy print on the ensemble.
A nude pink colouring her lips, temple jewellery inspired earrings by Amrapali Jewels and a simple deep red bindi on her forehead rounded out her stunning look.
Sara Ali Khan
Time and again, we have seen Sara Ali Khan turn heads with her impressive sartorial choices. For the occasion, Sara wore a traditional red and golden kurta and teamed it with an elegant red dupatta with golden work around the border. To complement her ensemble, her hair was styled into soft waves while a nude palette with well-defined eyes and a pink lip shade rounded off her look well.
In a recent photoshoot, Sara Ali Khan looked like a princess in a beautiful red lehenga with intricate embroidery with sequin threadwork by Anushree. Pulling her hair half-back, Sara opted for a thin stroke of eyeliner, oodles of mascara and bright red lips.
Actor Kiara Advani, who has often impressed us with her simple yet chic sartorial choices, recently turned showstopper for ace designer Amit Aggarwal at India Couture Week. Donning a shimmery bright red lehenga with intricate motifs and embroideries, Kiara looked resplendent. The diva adorned an emerald statement necklace and finished off the look with slicked-back hair and minimalist makeup.
Dressed a dark red aka marsala shade lehenga by Zara Umrigar, the gorgeous star Shilpa looked beyond stunning in this shimmery ensemble. The lehenga had a dark red base, which was embellished with shimmery sequins in motifs. It was paired with sheer dupatta, which Shilpa wore over her shoulders.
The actor completed her look with a ruby necklace and bracelet, and red lips to match her outfit!
