Swara Bhasker, who has been missing from the scene for a while now, will step into the shoes of veteran actress Shabana Azmi to play one of the female leads in the official remake of Arth. Revathi is calling the shots for the project.

Swara Bhasker has been missing from the scene for quite some time now. She was last seen in the Ekta Kapoor-produced chick flick Veere Di Wedding (2018), which also starred Kareena Kapoor Khan and Sonam Kapoor in lead roles. If you missed the actress sorely all this while, here is an exciting piece of news for you all. Buzz has it that Swara Bhaskar will soon return to the silver screen with an interesting project.

According to reports, the talented (2016) actress has been finalized for the official remake of Mahesh Bhatt’s cult film, Arth (1983). Swara Bhaskar will play the same role in the remake which seasoned actress Shabana Azmi played in the original movie. Actress-turned-filmmaker Revathi will direct the remake. Interestingly, Revathi has herself played Shabana Azmi’s character in the Tamil remake of the movie, titled Marupadiyum (1993).

If all goes well, Swara Bhaskar will start preparing for role soon. The makers are looking at starting production somewhere around December-January.

Meanwhile, we also hear that Revathi is in touch with actress Jacqueline Fernandez for the same role which late actress Smita Patil played in the original movie. It is not yet disclosed whether or not the actress has signed the project on the dotted line. Hunt for the male lead is also on, we hear from sources.
