Shahid Kapoor’s Kabir Singh is touted as one of the biggest hits of the year 2019. It has raised the wrath of critics for the misogyny, though the film was still cooking up a real storm at the ticket windows despite mixed reviews.
In the film, the actor essays the role of an alcoholic surgeon who destructs himself after his former girlfriend gets married to someone else. Helmed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, the film also features Kiara Advani as the female lead and has emerged as the highest-grossing Bollywood movie of 2019 alone.
Filmmaker Farah Khan in an interview with Bollywood Hungama talked about controversial movies as well as awards events.
She said on the age of social media, everyone can give their own critical analysis as long as they have a phone. However, Farah also shared her point of view that if the film has good content, then “people want to watch it, it will work.”
Elaborating further over the same, the filmmaker affirmed that such films can be “harmful in some ways” and she took Shahid Kapoor as an example.
