Millennium star Amitabh Bachchan was last seen in Red Chillies Entertainment’s suspense thriller Badla (2019). Also starring Taapsee Pannu in the lead role, the movie set the box-office on fire and reaped heavy dividends.
After Badla, Big B was set to be seen in much-awaited Jhund which was scheduled to release on 20th September. If latest reports are to be believed, however, now the film will not be hitting theatres on 20th September.
Jhund marks the directorial debut of well-known Marathi filmmaker Nagraj Manjule in Bollywood. The movie stars Amitabh Bachchan in the role of a revered Nagpur-based football coach Vijay Barse, who transformed the lives of several underprivileged footballers from a slum. After leaving the 20th September slot, Jhund may now roll into cinemas on December 13.
The makers have decided to release the film in December because they feel that it has the potential to become another Super 30 (2019). Well, if Jhund indeed enters theatres on 13th September, it will clash with Yash Raj Films’ hugely anticipated film Mardaani 2, starring Rani Mukerji in the role of an IPS officer.
Mardaani 2 is a sequel to the 2014 hit film Mardaani which marked the comeback of Rani Mukerji to films after a long gap. The audience is waiting for the release of the movie with bated breath. It will be the first release for Rani after the critically and commercially successful coming-of-age film Hichki (2018).
It looks like Amitabh Bachchan and Rani Mukerji are set to lock horns with each other after starring together in many successful films like Bunty Aur Babli (2005), Paheli (2005), Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna (2006) and Baabul (2006). It will be interesting to know whether or not any of the two films move to another date.
