Viswasam Box Office: Ajith Kumar Starrer Collects 1.25 Billion Rupee In One Week

Ajith Kumar starrer “Viswasam”, which hit the theatres on 10^th January, is performing well at the box office and its makers could not be happier. This movie once again proves that Ajith Kumar is “the King of openings”.

KJR Studios, the distributors of "Viswasam" happily announced on the movie’s Twitter that this rural drama has collected 1.25 billion rupee in the first opening week in Tamil Nadu. According to the trade analysts, the movie is expected to cross the 2-billion-rupee mark before its second week.

Helmed by Siruthai Siva, "Viswasam" is all about Thooku Durai (played by Ajith Kumar), who has to deal with his friends and family’s problems via violence and how love changes his life. Actress Nayanthara plays Thooku Durai’s wife in the movie and Anikha plays the role of their daughter.

Viswasam is being favored by the audiences but the movie has not received the same kind of love from the critics. Hindustan Times scored the movie 1,5 out of 5 and wrote,

The movie also finished the collaboration between actor Ajith Kumar and filmmaker Siruthai Siva. He previously worked with the filmmaker in three movies including Vivegam, Veeram and Vedalam. The 47-year-old actor is now teaming up with the director of Theeran Adhigaram Ondru, H Vinoth, for his next movie project.

The movie is the remake of Bollywood hit film named “Pink”, which featured Amitabh Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu in the leading roles. Sridevi's husband, Boney Kapoor will produce the movie. It is reported that Ajith Kumar has already signed a 2-film deal and H Vinoth will also direct his second movie.
