Vijay Deverakonda: “I Like Doing Films That The Audience Connects With”

Vijay Deverakonda became an overnight star after his 2017 film “Arjun Reddy” set the box-office on fire. The film was later remade in Hindi as “Kabir Singh” where Shahid Kapoor played the lead role.

Vijay Deverakonda is a Telugu actor, but his popularity across the country is such that it can give even the biggest of stars a run for their money. Vijay Deverakonda rose to meteoric rise after his 2017 film Arjun Reddy became an instant blockbuster at the box-office. The popularity of the movie can be gauged by the fact that it was later remade as Kabir Singh (2019) in Hindi and Aditya Varma (2019) in Tamil. Just like the original film, the two versions also turned out to be huge hits at the box-office.

The Arjun Reddy star Vijay Deverakonda says that he always tries to entertain his audience by establishing a connection with them through his movies. Talking to a newswire, the superstar said that as an actor he strives to entertain the audience, and by not only doing films in general but doing films that the audience connects with.

Giving an example of his character in the 2018 blockbuster Geetha Govinda, the actor said that the character of Vijay Govind in Geetha Govinda was in line with that idea. He said that Geetha Govindam was very different from all the films that he has done in the past and hence he was not sure about the genre initially. He credited the character for taking him out of his comfort zone.

Meanwhile, Vijay Deverakonda is busy promoting his upcoming film World Famous Lover. The anthology film, directed by Kranthi Madhav, also features Raashi Khanna, Aishwarya Rajesh, Catherine Tresa and Izabelle Leite in important roles. It is scheduled to release on 14th February, 2020. He has also confirmed headlining a film to be directed by Puri Jagannadh.
