Vijay Deverakonda turned to production with Telugu comic-caper Meeku Maathrame Cheptha (2019). He is now branching out to OTT platforms.

Vijay Deverakonda is one of the most successful actors from the current crop in Tollywood. Though some of his recent movies have not done well at the box-office, the actor still remains in high demand among filmmakers.

A popular South Indian entertainment portal reports that Deverakonda has plans to produce a couple of digital shows for leading streaming media platforms. The report goes on to add that the actor turned producer has already greenlighted his first webseries, which will be helmed by filmmaker KVR Mahendra. For the uninitiated, Mahendra launched Vijay’s brother Anand Deverakonda in Dorasaani (2019).

Reportedly, when Mahendra narrated the script to Vijay Deverakonda, the actor loved it so much that he immediately gave his nod to produce it. As far as the casting for the yet to be titled series is concerned, it will take a few months to be finalized. Also, if things fall into their place, the webseries will premiere on a streaming media service called Aha, which was launched by Geetha Arts a couple of months ago.

Meanwhile, Vijay Deverakonda will next star in filmmaker Puri Jagannadh’s multilingual action-thriller Fighter, co-starring Bollywood bombshell Ananya Panday. The movie will be shot simultaneously in Telugu and Hindi, and then it will be dubbed in several other popular regional languages as well.

Fighter is jointly being produced by Puri Jagannadh, Charmi Kaur and Karan Johar of Dharma Productions. KJo will distribute the film in Hindi. It will mark Deverakonda’s debut in the Hindi film industry.
