Sankalp Reddy needs no introduction! He exploded onto the scene with his directorial debut The Ghazi Attack (2017), which was the first war-at-sea film ever made in Indian cinema. Starring Rana Daggubati as Lieutenant Commander Arjun Varma, the movie hit the marquee in Telugu and Hindi and went on to do exceptional business in both languages.
Apart from performing well commercially, the Sankalp Reddy directorial also received widespread praises from various corners for its novel idea and the bilingual film bagged the Best Feature Film in Telugu at the prestigious 65th National Film Awards.
Despite being a debutante, Sankalp Reddy managed to extract the best from an ensemble star cast which included the likes of Rana Daggubati, Kay Kay Menon, Atul Kulkarni, Taapsee Pannu, Nassar and Milind Gunaji, among others. The filmmaker kept the audiences on the edge of their seats with his engaging screenplay and nail-biting war sequences between two submarines.
After The Ghazi Attack, Sankalp Reddy helmed the space-thriller Antariksham 9000 KMPH (2018), which received moderate success at the box-office. He has just finished shooting for his segment in the Telugu version of Hindi anthology film Lust Stories (2018).
Now, the news is coming in that the filmmaker is presently busy penning down a script for action star Vidyut Jammwal. The latter’s father has reportedly approached the filmmaker to prepare an action-packed script based on real-life incidents.
For the uninitiated, Jammwal’s father is an officer in the Indian Army and he was impressed by Sankalp’s debut film The Ghazi Attack. Since Vidyut is an action hero, the whole objective is to showcase his acting prowess while flaunting his physique, a source informs a publication. The actor is presently busy shooting for Faruk Kabir’s Khuda Haafiz. More details on his film with Shetty are expected to arrive soon.
