The movie has gained an excellent achievement for becoming Malayalam’s fastest movie to penetrate the Rs 100 crore club internationally. It has performed exceedingly well to achieve this feat in only eight days.

Via his Twitter account, he wrote:

In 2016, Pulimurugan - another film that Mohanlal took part in - became the 1st Malayalam movie to enter the 100-crore club. And, Kayamkulam Kochunni of Nivin Paul is the 2nd movie to join this coveted club.

The film features Mohanlal as a character named Stephen Nedumpally. On directing him, Prithviraj Sukumaran wrote:
