A variety of romantic films have its story revolving around the live-in relationship stories. Many couples in India are maintaining this kind of relationship, but their families don't know.

However, cohabitation before marriage is not warmly welcomed because society still considers it something taboo. One of the films that are mentioning about this is Luka Chuppi starring Kriti Sanon and Kartik Aaryan. With its release coming this week, we have listed out the 11 movies that touched on live in relationship matters before.

1. Salaam Namaste

The movie showed every aspect of the relationship, from looking for a house to arguing because the girl was pregnant. Before this movie, there hadn’t been many movies that mentioned a live-in relationship in a proper way.

2. Bachna Ae Haseeno


In this movie released in 2008, Ranbir Kapoor played the role of Raj Sharma, a man who fell in love with three women at different times of his life: Mahi (Minissha Lamba), Radhika (Bipasha Basu), Gayatri (Deepika Padukone). Raj was in a live-in relationship with Radhika.

3. Fashion


It’s about the story of Meghna Mathur (Priyanka Chopra), an aspiring fashion model who is struggling because her relatives asked her to leave their house. She then chose to live together with Maanav, her boyfriend. The movie also featured Mugdha Godse and Kangana Ranaut in lead roles, and it gave the audience a glimpse of the fashion industry.

4. Pyaar ka Punchnama


Before Luka Chuppi, Kartik Aaryan had also played a role in a live-in relationship film before. In the movie Pyaar ka Punchnama, Kartik played as Rajat who lived together with his girlfriend Neha (Nushrat Bharucha). It is also the debut movie of Kartik Aaryan.

5. Cocktail


Released in 2012 with Saif Ali Khan, Diana Penty and Deepika Padukone in lead roles, the movie revolves around the love triangle story of three strangers who were living together. They later ended up being best friends. This movie has received many great reviews from the critics.

6. Aashiqui 2


Released in 2013, the movie centered on the love story of famous singer Rahul Jaykar (Aditya Roy Kapur) and Aarohi Keshav Shirke (Shraddha Kapoor). The couple moved in together, but their relationship was challenged by Rahul’s alcohol abuse and had a sad ending.

7. Shuddh Desi Romance


Starring Sushant Singh Rajput, Vaani Kapoor, and Parineeti Chopra, the movie showed the views of the young generation in small towns of India about live in relationship and arranged marriages. It was a big hit at the box office.

8. Katti Batti


This is the story of a cohabitation relationship which lasted for five years of Madhav 'Maddy' Kabra (Imran Khan) and Payal (Kangana Ranaut). However, Payal died of cancer, leaving Maddy behind with the memories in his heart.

9. Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2


It was the sequel of the 2011 movie Pyaar Ka Punchnama. In this movie, Thakur (played by Omkar Kapoor) and Kusum (played by Ishita Raj Sharma) were living together, but the selfishness and greediness of Kusum ruined the relationship.

10. Befikre


Featuring Vaani Kapoor and Ranveer Singh, the movie followed the story of Dharam and Shyra who were hooking up but fell in love and lived together in Paris. However, they broke up after many misunderstandings and fights.

11. Ok Jaanu


It is the 2017 remake of O Kadhal Kanmani, a Tamil romantic drama film by Mani Ratnam. Shraddha Kapoor and Roy Kapur once again played as a couple who were living together in Mumbai.
