A young boy at the age of 13 died alone at King's College Hospital after one day of being admitted to this hospital. He breathed his last because of testing positive for coronavirus that people believe he is the youngest patient of the pandemic in the UK.
Following a statement of Madinah College London where the boy's sister works, due to the danger of getting infected with the deadly virus, none of his family members were beside him when his death came in the early morning of Monday.
The college further added:
"It is with great sadness to announce that the younger brother of one of our teachers has sadly passed away this morning due to being infected with COVID-19. Ismail was only 13 years old without any pre-existing health conditions and sadly he died without any family members close by due to the highly infectious nature of COVID-19."
The college has then established a crowdfunded raising page to collect £4,000 ($5,000) for funeral expenses. Up to 9.30 pm on March 31st, the donation received over £21,000 ($26,000).
Ismail's family told that the young boy started showing symptoms and had troubles in breathing so he was admitted to King's College Hospital. A friend of them said:
"To our knowledge, he had no underlying health conditions. He was put on a ventilator and then put into an induced coma but sadly died yesterday morning."
Meanwhile, King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust's spokesman claimed:
"Sadly, a 13-year-old boy who tested positive for COVID-19 has passed away, and our thoughts and condolences are with the family at this time. The death has been referred to the coroner and no further comment will be made."
The death toll of the UK is now over 1,800 cases amongst more than 25,000 infected cases. Experts indicated that the coronavirus situation in the UK is not surprising due to a subjective point of view of the government to the pandemic. Though this country is one of the most seriously affected areas of coronavirus over the world, it has taken action much slower than the other countries.
As per some latest reports, there hasn't been any death case at the age range from 0 to 10 yet. However, Europe has recorded several deaths in teenage age group due to the novel coronavirus. Below are some data on death rates among age groups:
- 10 year old - 19 year old: o.2%
- 40 year old - 49 year old: 0.4%
- 50 year old - 59 year old: 1.3%
