Tom Hanks reportedly featured the father figure Geppetto in Disney’s live-action Pinocchio, an adaptation of the 1940 Disney classic.
The Oscar-winning actor may bring Geppetto - Pinocchio’s maker back to life again. 'Paddington' filmmaker Paul King is attached to direct the remake while Chris Weitz and Andrew Miano are responsible for being the producer. The script is penned by Weitz, Simon Farnaby and King. However, the release date has been kept under wraps.
The 1940 classic animated film follows a living puppet named Pinocchio, who tries to prove that he is worthy to become a real boy. Geppetto is a master woodcarver and a widower who creates Pinocchio and eventually becomes father figure as he longs for.
Tom Hanks was last seen in The Post and will reprise the voice for a toy cowboy named Woody for the upcoming film Toy Story 4. He is also currently shooting for the untitled movie for TriStar, in which he stars as the iconic TV personality.
'Pinocchio' is the next live-action reboot of Disney classics following by Dumbo, The Lion King and Aladdin.
