Padma Lakshmi Was Molested At 7 And Raped At 16

Padma Lakshmi, a famous American author, model, TV personality and actor, recently has revealed a secret about her teenage. She was raped at the age of 16.

Lakshmi wrote an Op-Ed for the New York Times which mentioned the story of the young author. This article refers to the sexual assault accusation against Brett Kavanaugh - Supreme Court nominee.

Being Raped At The Age Of 16

Rehearsing the incident, the Top Chef mentioned that she was assaulted when she was 7 and raped for the first time when she was 16 years old. She dated a "handsome and charming" college students who is 23 years old. It started as an ordinary teenage love story when that man "flirted" during the time she was doing her part-time job at a mall in L.A. The relationship turned out to be a nightmare to Lakshmi when he sexually assaulted her while she fell asleep.

Her boyfriend seemed to be nice and well-behaved at first. He asked for her mother admission when they went out and never brought her home late. Actually, they were intimate for a point but as Lakshmi was unsure whether she was ready or not, they agreed to wait.

Three decades ago, after a night out on the New year's eve, Lakshmi stayed with her boyfriend in his apartment. The next thing she could remember is waking up with pain between her legs. It felt like a knife blade cut deep inside and he was on top of her. She asked, "What are you doing?" and he just said, "It will only hurt for a while."

The author shared her feeling on that day as she was so confused about whether it was sex or a rape. She told her next boyfriend that she was still a virgin as she didn't intend to do it. So Lakshmi supposed that she remained a virgin.

She also told another story when she was only seven that a relative touched her inappropriately. He even put her hand on his penis. Lakshmi told her mother about it and was immediately sent to India to live with her grandparents.
