Marvel's Avengers: Infinity War ending has triggered controversies in superhero movie history. The most supervillain in cinema – Thanos didn’t kill any superheroes even though he absolutely had the power to wipe out half of the universe, which is quite strange to Marvel fans.
He was a highly ambitious character, had insane motivations and could do anything to achieve his purpose, even sacrificed his adopted daughter.
In the end, Thanos easily eliminating half of the universe’s life by his “snaps his fingers”. There was one strange detail: while the superhero teams tried to attacked Thanos at the end of Infinity War, he just defended himself and escaped to another planet after gaining his goal.
There is no doubt that Thanos is completely demented, but to some extent, thoughtful.
In another aspect, although Mad Titan is built and grown up in full of hatred against the hero, he is not utterly a typical movie monster. At the time he killed Gamora, Loki and Vision and others, there was a purpose behind it.
A method in his madness
In The Art of Avengers, Marvel Studios’ Head of Visual Development Ryan Meinerding unveiled a reasonable and logical explanation for this strange action of Thanos.
The plan to collect all the Infinity Stones is Thanos’s priority. This task is so powerful and important that Mad Titan became much calmer and more single-minded, and more thoughtful. He finds it unnecessary to kill the heroes. Once he controls with the stones in his hands, he can accomplish what he wants to.
This is an interesting answer that suits the mind of this supervillain. His purpose is to bring balance to the universe by wiping out half of all life. He regarded himself as a Savior and did the right thing to save the universe. The truth that half of the Marvel superheroes died, it was pre-decided and random, and he did not intend to do so.
Avengers 4 promises to hit the theaters in 2019.
