Rajasthan girl Suman Rao was crowned the Femina Miss India 2019 title winner in a glittering ceremony held at the NSCI Dome on Saturday, June 15, in Worli, Mumbai. The 20-year-old student is currently pursuing a course in Charted Accountancy. She will represent India at Miss World 2019 in Thailand.

The star-studded event was hosted by the Bollywood filmmaker Karan Johar and actor Manish Paul. Miss India 2018, Anukreethy Vas from Tamil Nadu crowned her successor Suman Rao, Miss India 2019 in an emotional moment.

Meanwhile, Shivani Jadhav from Chhattisgarh won Femina Miss Grand India 2019 title and also the first runner up, Shreya Shanker from Bihar clinched Miss India United Continents 2019 title.

Suman expressed her concern over gender inequality and stereotypes,

In an interview after the competition, the Miss India 2o19 sent a motivational message, “When you get yourself determined towards a particular goal in life, every single nerve and fibre of your body starts working into that direction for a victorious journey."

Miss India 2019 red carpet saw a host of stars, including Bollywood actresses Neha Dhupia, Huma Qureshi, and Chitrangda Singh, actor Ayush Sharma, fashion designer Falguni Shane Peacock, Indian footballer Sunil Chhetri, choreographer Remo D'Souza among others.

During the event, film stars like Katrina Kaif, Vicky Kaushal and Mouni Roy enthralled the audience with their killing dance performances.
