During a recent interview to Mid-Day, Bollywood star Varun Dhawan showered his Kalank co-star Alia Bhatt with praise for her craft as well as credited her for helping him ‘up his game.’

Talking about his great chemistry with Alia Bhatt, Varun shared that their ‘careers have been a play of destiny’ as they have been working together for four films including their latest blockbuster Kalank.

The 31-year-old star further said that their primary focus in all their collaborations is to surpass their last performance and make an attempt to get their chemistry right every time.

Also in the interview, Varun Dhawan revealed that while he was physically ready for taking on the role in the Abhishek Varman’s multi-starrer Kalank, he wasn’t ‘emotionally and mentally’ prepared for the challenge. He also opened up about the hardships that he faced while making for his character Zafar in the film, stating that “this has been the toughest character” of his career.

Produced by Karan Johar and directed by Abhishek Varman, Kalank follows six characters who are connected by love and revenge. The film hit the cinema on 17^th April and made headlines when becoming the biggest opener of 2019 with the collection of Rs 21.06.
