Sanjay Dutt To Return To Munna Bhai Series For A Hit?

Sanjay Dutt, despite trying his best, has failed to leave any mark in his second inning in Bollywood. The superstar returned from prison in 2016.

In 2017, he made his silver screen comeback with Omung Kumar’s Bhoomi, also starring Aditi Rao Hydari in the lead role. However, in spite of having a good pre-release buzz, the movie fell flat at the box-office.

Sanjay Dutt was most recently seen in Prassthanam (2019). Apart from playing the male lead, the actor also produced the film under his own production house. As ill luck would have it, Prassthanam too failed to click with the audience, incurring heavy losses to the actor-producer.

After delivering back-to-back duds, Sanjay Dutt has reportedly made up his mind to return to do what he does best - play Munna Bhai.

Yes, you heard it absolutely right! The immensely successful franchise, which gave a new lease of life to Dutt’s stardom in the early 2000s, has been awaiting its third instalment for quite a long time now.

Director Rajkumar Hirani and writer Abhijat Joshi had, in fact, announced a third film titled Munnabhai Chale Amrika, wherein Dutt was to travel to the US to meet President Barack Obama.

But since Obama is no more the president of the United States, a hunt for another script commenced. The latest we hear that Sanjay Dutt has asked the makers of the franchise to begin work on the third part as soon as possible as he is set to relive his popular character once again.
