Rohit Shetty is known for helming a series of comic-capers including Sunday (2008) All The Best: Fun Begins (2009), Bol Bachchan (2012) and, of course, the super successful franchise Golmaal. He last directed Simmba (2018) which was a cop-drama, featuring uber cool Ranveer Singh in the lead role.
Rohit Shetty is presently busy directing his next directorial offering Sooryavanshi. Starring Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif in lead roles, the movie is scheduled to hit the silver screen in 2020. Besides Sooryavanshi, he is also producing a film which will be directed by Farah Khan.
And, if rumours are to be believed, the filmmaker will commence work on Golmaal 5 right after he is done with Sooryavanshi which is in the last leg of production. A source tells an entertainment portal that after working on cop-dramas Simmba and Sooryavanshi, Rohit Shetty is planning to work on something light-hearted, and what better than Golmaal 5?
informs the source.
The Golmaal franchise started in 2006 with the release of Golmaal. The movie, starring Ajay Devgn, Sharman Joshi, Tusshar Kapoor and Arshad Warsi, turned out to be a big hit. In 2008, Rohit Shetty returned with Golmaal Returns which also set the box-office on fire.
Golmaal 3 released to packed houses in 2010. In 2017, Golmaal Again hit theatres and emerged as one of the biggest hits of the franchise.
