Mrunal Thakur To Pair Up Opposite Shahid Kapoor In “Jersey”

Mrunal Thakur was last seen in Nikkhil Advani’s “Balta House” opposite John Abraham. The actress has now been roped in to play the female lead alongside Shahid Kapoor in “Jersey”.

Mrunal Thakur is on a roll! After starring opposite Hrithik Roshan and John Abraham in Super 30 (2019) and Bata House (2019) respectively, the actress has been signed on to feature alongside Shahid Kapoor. Yes, Mrunal Thakur has been roped in to play the female lead in the forthcoming Hindi film Jersey, which is an official remake of Telugu blockbuster of the same name.
Filmmaker Gowtham Tinnanauri, who called the shots for the original version, is directing the Hindi remake as well. He reveals that Mrunal Thakur was always his first choice for the female lead in his film. “After Shahid came on board, I only had Mrunal on my mind for the lead opposite him. I loved her performance and confidence in Super 30 opposite Hrithik Roshan and felt she is perfectly fit for the part in Jersey and will do full justice to the role,” says the filmmaker.
Sharing her excitement on bagging the film, Mrunal Thakur says that when she saw the original film, she was bowled over by its passionate emotional journey. “I am super excited to play the lead opposite Shahid in Jersey! When I saw the original film, I was bowled over by its passionate emotional journey, it felt like I had lived a full lifetime of experiences in those two-plus hours. So deep was the effect of the film on me that I couldn’t get it out of my heart the whole night so I immediately watched it again the next day, I can’t wait for Hindi audiences to experience a similar impact,” says the actress.
Meanwhile, Shahid Kapoor has already started preparing for his role. To get into the skin of the character, the actor is practising cricket on the field. To be produced by Allu Aravind, Aman Gill and Dil Raju, Jersey is slated to hit the silver screen on August 28, 2020.
