The actor clarified that they never realized while shooting the film and now they plan to remove that particular scene from the movie.

Kartik Aaryan and makers of Pati Patni Aur Woh are being criticized for hurting sentiments of people who have suffered from marital rape. The film, Pati Patni Aur Woh  also stars Ananya Panday and Bhumi Pednekar. The film has been directed by Mudassar Aziz. The actor and filmmakers were brutally trolled for making fun of a serious issue like marital rape. In India, marital rape is considered as a heinous crime and is being faced by many women.

After the trailer was released, netizens wrote to National Commission for Women and appealed to take strict action against the filmmakers. Netizens also demanded that the film should be not allowed a release and threatened to file police complaint against the producers. Kartik Aaryan became the prime target for targeting women in every film. He was termed as misogynist and faced severe backlash.

In a recent media interaction, Kartik Aaryan said that scene has been rectified right after he and the makers realized about hurting the sentiments of people with that marital rape dialogue in the trailer. "We took responsibility because it might have come across as something that wasn’t our intention. We realized we shouldn’t use that word (rape) at all so we have rectified it and made changes because we don’t want to hurt people’s sentiments," said the actor.

We didn’t realize it when we were doing it. We had shown it to a lot of people, but no one had pointed it out. We didn’t want to hurt anyone’s sentiments. This isn’t the topic of our film nor was this our intention. He added.
