Let’s all take a look at the films which went on floors this year regardless of the disputes they faced.
Panipat
The film tells the Panippat 3rd battle between Marathas and Mughals and it got involved in many censures because of the wrong depiction of Maharaja Surajmal, the legendary Bharatpur’s Jat ruler.
There was an installment that Maharaja Surajmal offered to give Sadashiv Rao a hand in fighting Abdali in exchange for Agra fort and Sadashiv then refused to agree. This scene attracted lots of adverse opinions demanding it to removed from the film.
Pati, Patni Aur Woh
The film’s trailer created a rage in the audience as the dialogue about marital rape was strongly criticized.
Kabir Singh
The critically-acclaimed and high-grossing film of the year also met the public’s hatred due to the violent and toxic depiction of the male protagonist.
Bala
The Bhumi Pednekar - Ayushmann Khurrana movie was not an exception when it comes to movies that faced backlashes since the trailer was released. From Bhumi Pednekar’s dark skin, her altered complexion, to the similar bald avatar of Ayushmann, the film has made quite many journals spill ink for its controversiality.
Judgementall Hain Kya
The movie starring Rajkummar Rao and Kangana Ranaut has made headlines ever since its announcement. Judgementall Hain Kya’s makers were accused of copying an artist's work to create their posters. The mentioned film poster includes Kangana’s half face and the other is half of a cat’s.
The movie’s title was also altered because of controversies, from Mental Hain Kya previously to Judgementall Hain Kya eventually.
Thackeray
The character of Balasaheb Thackeray - the late leader of Shiv Sena, was portrayed by actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui. He faced quite a number of criticism as he is a Muslim and it does not serve the role right as per the public.
