Delhi Belly star Kunaal Roy Kapur will be seen in a completely new character in the new horror thriller Mushkil. The actor has switched his gears from a comic actor to a rom-com personality for the movie. Starring alongside actors Rajniesh Duggall and Pooja Bisht, Kunaal Roy Kapur will be playing a romantic character.
He also has a romantic song in the film and is excited about the release of the film. After working for Nautanki Saala starring alongside Ayushmann Khurrana, the actor will be next seen in Amazon's web series Bandish Bandit.
Kunaal Roy Kapur has also worked in super hit TVF web series Tripling. The actor during an interview with STARBIZ correspondent Imran Fazal revealed about his comeback in comedy films.
Horror is a completely different genre for you how do you describe your role in the movie?
I play a flirtatious guide who runs a tour company and four beautiful girls come on a trip from India to Greece. So I become a tour guide for these ladies. The character in this movie is very flirtatious, direct and brash. In the film, I become a savior at one point in time. It is a fun character which I have not done earlier.
The director wanted a completely different person to fit in the role and when they narrated the script to me I confirmed the project. It has been great working with the entire team and it was a very homely atmosphere during the shoot.
Will we see Kunaal Roy Kapur in a supernatural avatar or a character having superpowers?
Without giving away too much, I am not the savior in the film. I am the guide who shows the girls around Greece. The character in this film is more forward sort of, so I wanted to play another shade and I chose this film. Personally, I believe that the horror genre has not been touched enough in our industry.
Also, horror-comedies have been made but a pure horror film does not make big on the box office. Internationally the audience is very loyal to horror thrillers and they have a good market. With this film, we wanted to create the same market in India. We wanted to deliver the quality of the film.
You have worked in films which have a comic twist to it. Will you be working in any comedy movies for Bollywood or web series in the future?
Yes absolutely. Comedy is something that people enjoy watching me. I try to act in different genres but I am confident that if I do not succeed in any other genre. The comedy will always be there for me to look out for.
You will be a part of another web series on Amazon named Bandish Bandit. How different is acting in films and in web series?
Bandish Bandit is a musical series which has never been done on OTT platforms for India. Working for films and web series differs but the production cost has also been increased, be it films or web series. This has led to talented and young crew members being added to make larger than life films or web series.
Opportunity to act is also the same, the motto is to perform and give the best to what the script requires. It has to be natural as well as to be more interesting.
