Bhumi Pednekar Starrer “Durgavati” Begins Production

Bhumi Pednekar starrer Durgavati, which is the Hindi remake of superhit Telugu horror film, Bhaagamathie (2018) featuring Anushka Shetty in the lead role, has started rolling. The film began its production on 22^nd January 2020. Director G. Ashok, who directed the original film, is calling the shots for the remake as well.

The first shooting schedule of the hugely anticipated film will last for approximately 60 days. The scary thriller is currently being shot in Sadarmanzil, which is in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. Besides Madhya Pradesh, Durgavati will also be shot across various places in the state of Rajasthan.

A source close to the team informs a publication that the shooting stint commenced from January 22 and will finish sometime in March. The film opens with deadly churning noise of a door opening. The room was covered with black curtains, making the sequence spine chilling and suspenseful. No sooner the room opens in the first scene, that one can see a figure seated in a chair, probably Bhumi.

Durgavati will be presented by superstar Akshay Kumar who was the lead hero of Bhumi Pednekar in Toilet: Ek Prem Katha (2017). The actor will also have a notable guest appearance in the movie. Besides Kumar, T-Series Films’ Bhushan Kumar and Abundantia Entertainment’s Vikram Malhotra is also associated with the project as co-producers.

Bhumi Pednekar is quite thrilled to be a part of the film. Talking about it, she had earlier said that Durgavati is going to take her in horror space. It is the most challenging and special film for her as it is for the first time the responsibility will be on her shoulders. She added that Durgavati is something that she is most pressured and excited about. She also praised Akshay Kumar and said that he is a genius and she respects him.
