The hit Kabir Singh was about to have Arjun Kapoor in the lead role but the movie's director Sandeep had signed with Shahid Kapoor so he finally retreated.

Arjun Kapoor or Shahid Kapoor, both of them were perfect options for the pivotal role in Kabir Singh by producers and director. However, there wasn't any initial unification between the movie's producers and director in choosing the actor, Arjun decided to withdraw from the cast.
Eventually, Shahid Kapoor still finished the character well, and together with the whole film team, they made Kabir Singh a smash hit at the box office to collect over Rs 275 crore.
