The box office figures of Pad Man in China pale in comparison with Rani Mukerji-starrer Hichki, which collected Rs 150 crore only in China.

Akshay Kumar-starrer Pad Man has been released in one of the biggest markets in the world, China with a lukewarm reception at the box office though. As per trade analyst Taran Adarsh, the movie has collected only Rs 37 crore in the opening weekend, and he also said the film ‘missed the mark’.

Pad Man is about a man who sets out to invent the sanitary pad machine and provide low-cost sanitary pads for women living in rural areas India. The film, released in February, made more than Rs 150 crore in the collection and achieved remarkable success in India during the theatrical run.

The box office figures of Pad Man in China pale in comparison with Rani Mukerji-starrer Hichki, which collected Rs 150 crore only in China. For the record, the film Hichki then earned the fifth place in the list of highest grossing Indian movies in the Chinese market.

The list also includes Aamir Khan-starrer Dangal and Secret Superstar, the film Bajrangi Bhaijaan of Salman Khan, and Irrfan Khan’s Hindi Medium. The previous movie of Akshay titled Toilet: Ek Prem Katha made roughly Rs 100 crore in China.

Pad Man is a film of director R Balki and features Soman Kapoor and Radhika Apte in the lead. Akshay followed it up with science fiction film 2.0 and historical sports-drama film Gold. Both films took the box office by storm, though 2.0 is soon to become a box office phenomenon with the collection of whopping Rs 700 crore.
