Akshay Kumar Drops The Release Date Of Horror-Comedy “Laxmmi Bomb”

Akshay Kumar is returning to the genre of horror-comedy after a massive gap of 13 years. His last horror-comedy was Priyadarshan’s 2007 movie “Bhool Bhulaiyaa”, also starring Vidya Balan, Shiney Ahuja and Ameesha Patel in important roles.

Akshay Kumar, who was most recently seen in Kesari (2019), has announced the release date of his upcoming film, Laxmmi Bomb. The movie, which is an official remake of Tamil horror-comedy Kanchana (2011), will enter cinemas on 5th June 2020. It also stars M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story (2016) actress Kiara Advani in a pivotal part.

Akshay Kumar went to his Instagram account to announce the release date of the flick. Apart from announcing the official release date, the superstar also shared the first look poster of the much-awaited movie.

In the first look of the film, Akshay Kumar is seen looking into the mirror and applying kohl to his eyes. The superstar plays the character of a man who is possessed by the spirit of a transgender. The transgender avenges her brutal murder by possessing Kumar’s body and killing those who killed her.

Though the makers are tight-lipped about the actor who is playing the character of transgender in the movie, speculations are rife that megastar Amitabh Bachchan has been signed on to play the interesting part. However, an official announcement is still awaited.

Well-known South Indian actor-filmmaker Raghava Lawrence is calling the shots for Laxmmi Bomb. Interestingly, he also directed and starred in the original Tami film. The third part of the Kanchana franchise in Tamil, starring Lawrence, released a couple of weeks ago. It did phenomenally well at the box-office.

Laxmmi Bomb marks Akshay Kumar’s return to the horror-comedy genre after Bhool Bhulaiyaa, which hit the silver screen in 2007. The superstar is presently shooting for Rohit Shetty’s Sooryavanshi, which is also set to release next year.
