The Legendary Actor-Comedian Dinyar Contractor Passes Away

He had gifted us with many memorable characters with his Bollywood movies like "Chori Chori Chupke Chupke", "Badshah"," Khiladi", "36 China Town" to name a few.

Veteran actor and theatre artist Dinyar Contractor passed away at the age of 79 today morning. The actor is known for his famous shows like Khichdi, Tarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah had been suffering from various age and health-related illness. He had started his acting as early as his school days and began his professional career in 1966.

The actor had been honored with the fourth highest civilian award, Padma Shri in January this year by the current President of India Ramnath Kovind.

Apart from the earlier mentioned TV shows, he had also been a part of many famous TV serials like Aaj Ke Shriman Shrimati, Hum Sab Ek Hain, Dam Dama Dam, Karishma - The Miracles Of Destiny and Kabhi Idhar Kabhi Udhar to mention some. He sprung to fame with his role as Sodhi's father in law in the famous TV show Tarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah.

The demise of the actor came as shock to the country with many famous celebrities and political juggernauts taking it to Twitter to condole the news.

The Prime Minister of India, Mr. Narendra Modi wrote on Twitter, "Padma Shri Dinyar Contractor was special because he spread lots of happiness. His versatile acting brought smiles on several faces. Be it theatre, television or films, he excelled across all mediums. Saddened by his demise. My thoughts are with his family and admirers."
