Netflix Is Testing To Crack Down On Password Sharing, Users To Create Their Own Account If They Want To Use Its Service

Sad news for your weekend, especially Netflix fans. The giant streaming service recently announces that it’s currently testing a brand new feature in which the users will be asked to verify whether they actually share the same household with the main account holder.

The new term of service

Now, a group of Netflix users is getting a new message from the company. They are required to confirm that they are living with the owner of the account they are using.

'If you don't live with the owner of this account, you need your own account to keep watching,' the message reads.

This important change in their password sharing policy came after the company made an announcement on an increase in the subscription fees.

For those who are unversed, the hikes were earlier announced in October 2020 for new users while the existing subscribers witnessed the fees growth in February.

How to avoid

In order to delay this verification from the company, many people chose to ignore the message and keep using the service of Netflix.

However, this message is likely to reappear in their email once they open the OTT platform. Eventually, the users who are not account holders will have to create their own account if they want to continue streaming.

The world’s biggest streaming platform Netflix has more than 200 million subscribers across the world. The new features are tested constantly.

In fact, it’s still unclear that this new verification requirement where all users of an account have to live together to use its service will be widely implemented.
