Helly Shah: “I Am Not Freaking Out In The Lockdown”

Helly Shah needs no introduction! She is one of the most popular faces on Indian television, who has several successful daily soaps to her credit, including Swaragini (2015-16), Devanshi (2017) and Sufiyana Pyaar Mera (2019). The actress, who has completed nine successful years in the industry, is also one of the highest-paid actresses in the tinsel town of television.

It has been more than a month since the nationwide lockdown was imposed in India. We all have been holed up inside our houses, doing something or the other to pass our time. There are some celebrities who feel that it is too much now, but Helly Shah has no problem with COVID-19 restrictions imposed by the government to prevent the spread of the virus.  “I am more careful these days in terms of hygiene and other things as well”, says Helly Shah.

How are you coping with the quarantine period?

I am trying to keep myself calm as much as I can. I am not freaking out. I am cautious about things around. I am more careful these days in terms of hygiene and other things as well.

Tell us something about your show Love, Sleep, Repeat.

Once things normalise and we will be able to sort of resume things, only then will we launch it. Earlier there was a release date, but due to the Coronavirus pandemic, things got delayed. And I think it is good because only after things get back to track can we launch it nicely.

Tell us something about your nine year-long journey in television.

My journey has been nice, beautiful and satisfying, I would say. Thank you for your wishes. I recently completed nine years. It just feels like it all started yesterday and I just do not know how did I start it. It feels nice.

I am glad that at this point in my career, I am able to choose projects that I want to. And I have been very choosy, honestly. After Swaragini, I had become a bit choosier and I want to be like that only and I want to be very particular about what kind of projects I choose and what kind of shows I do. And I think that is what I am and that is the kind of work I want to do.

A lot of actresses from television are stepping into Bollywood. Do you have any plans?

I mean yeah, why not? Honestly, I do not really plan things, because for me, whenever I plan certain things, they just do not go the way I had planned. It is with most of the people. But if I find something interesting or challenging and if I feel that there is something I can do, then of course I would love to do it.

I think the next thing that I have in mind is web. Obviously, that is going to be after Ishq Me Marjaavaan not now but that is there on my mind.
