Film series are too often ending in a way that disappoints the fans, but fortunately, the case with How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World is different.
With the perfect bond between Toothless the alpha and Hiccup the chief, the film had a happy ending that satisfied even the most demanding audience, needless to say how the producers were proud of it. The film took us back to the first two parts where the young Vikings were battling, now they have grown older and had the support of their dragons.
Hiccup has become the leader of Berk, and together with Toothless, he continues to rescue the captured dragons to bring them to Berk. Hiccup wanted to find a new world for the humans and the dragons to live together in harmony.
However, his rescuing the dragons made the dragon-haters get angry, they, therefore, teamed up with Grimmel the Grizzly, a legend of trapping dragons, to cast Hiccup out. Also, Grimmel has an even more evil plan in secret - killing the last Night Fury.
How will everything turn out to be? Don’t worry! We’re not going to spoil you so that you can enjoy this film in full excitement.
The story of the film is not too different from the previous parts. There was an exciting scene when Hiccup said: “Berk is not a place, it's the people and their love for dragons.” And if you think it’s familiar, yes, you’re right, because the mighty Thor once also said, “Asgard is not a place, it's a people.”
This is the key plot that makes the storyline stay connected. The film has rather simple storytelling, but it’s full of emotions. The lessons about love, friendship, faith, loyalty, hope and trust, they were all conveyed in a touching way that will move many to tears.
The cast was impressive as always, and their excellent performances undoubtedly contributed to the success of the film. Jay Baruchel (Hiccup), Gerard Butler (Stoick), Cate Blanchett (Valka), America Ferrara (Astrid) did an excellent job in expressing their characters. The voice full of wisdom of Valka led Hiccup to make the right decisions while Astrid’s constant support helped him find the strength and motivation to reach the impossible goals. Supporting roles were also brilliantly done by Kristen Wiig, Craig Ferguson, Jonah Hill, and T.J. Miller.
Another factor contributing to the success of the film is the visuals and music. One of the most impressive visuals of the film is the scene where Toothless and Light Fury, his new charming girlfriend, flying above the Aurora Borealis; it was so aesthetically pleasing.
The images of the Hidden World are also praiseworthy. The music of the film was composed by talented John Powell, who was collaborated by Batu Sener, Paul Mounsey, Anthony Willis and as additional composers. It was a perfect match with the stunning visuals, and altogether they made the ending even more satisfying to watch.
