Jisshu U Sengupta is a popular name in the Bengali film industry. Appearing in critically-acclaimed movies like Shob Charitro Kalponik, Rajkahini, Byomkesh Bakshi, Kelor Kirti, Byomkesh O Chiriyakhana and many others, the actor has long established himself in Bollywood. Jisshu was born 15 March 1977 in Kolkata, India.

He's now 42 years old and has been happily married to Nilanjana Sharma in 2004. The couple has 2 daughters, Sara Sengupta, 14 years old, and Zara Sengupta, 10 years old.

Early in his life, Sengupta studied at the Julian Day School, where he was fully engrossed in playing cricket. He pursued a degree in economics from Heramba Chandra College, following which he started to work in an advertising agency.

Unfortunately, his silver screen debut, Priyojon, directed by Dinen Sengupta, was a critical and commercial failure. Afterward, Jisshu had a few unsuccessful roles here and there, until he got the lead in the highest-grossing film of Bangladesh in 2003: Moner Majhe Tumi.

Later, the actor would make his debut in Bollywood through biographical war film Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose: The Forgotten Hero, with the directorial work of Shyam Benegal.

By mere chance, the two was paired together as celebrity judges for a competition at the festival, and they later had lunch.

After that fateful day, Jisshu and Nilanjana would work together for movies, and eventually, their love blossomed on the sets and they tied the knot in 2004.
