Akshay Kumar Signs A Big-Ticket Action Comedy By YRF?

Akshay Kumar can be currently seen in Dharma Productions’ comic-caper “Good Newwz”. His next release will be Rohit Shetty’s “Sooryavanshi”.

Akshay Kumar, who can be currently seen in Dharma Productions’ latest offering Good Newwz, has his pocket full with almost half a dozen new projects. The superstar, who recently started shooting for Yash Raj Film’s much-talked-about historical drama Prithviraj alongside former Miss World Manushi Chhillar, has reportedly signed yet another film with the leading production house of the country.

Yes, you heard it absolutely right! Buzz has it that Akshay Kumar has given his nod to star in a big-budgeted action comedy by Yash Raj Films. Shiv Rawail, the son of prolific filmmaker Rahul Rawail, will be making his directorial debut with the yet to be titled project. He has earlier worked with Yash Raj Films for six years. He has been an assistant director on such YRF films as Fan (2016), Befikre (2016) and Dhoom 3 (2013).

A source close to the development tells an entertainment portal that the film is currently in the scripting stage and will hit the shooting floor in the second half of 2020. We hear that Akshay Kumar has loved the basic premise of the movie and is thrilled to be associated with it.

Yash Raj Films is known for producing mega-budgeted movies. With every film made under the banner, the makers try to raise the bar in terms of storytelling and production value. Akshay Kumar is very fond of the action space and producer Aditya Chopra is planning to spend like a sailor on the making of the film.

The source goes on to add that though it is too early to comment on whether the production house is planning to develop the upcoming project as a franchise, the possibility of the same cannot be ruled out. If the character gets popular, the makers might even think of coming up with a series of action movies under the brand name. An official announcement is awaited.
