The big-ticket mythological film, which has been in pre-production for the last three years, is expected to be made on a whopping budget of ₹ 180 crores and will involve heavy-duty visual effects and CGI.

Rana Daggubati, who became a force to reckon with after the humongous success of Baahubali: The Beginning (2015) and Baahubali: The Conclusion (2017), is all set to star in a yet another big-ticket costume drama. The tall and handsome actor has just joined hands with renowned South Indian filmmaker, Gunasekhar, to headline his upcoming ambitious mythological film, Hiranyakashyapa.

Announcing the multi-billion project, Gunasekhar revealed that he has been working on the pre-production of the movie for the past three years.

Rana Daggubati, who was recently seen in N.T.R: Mahanayakudu, plays the mythological character of Hiranyakashyapa in the movie. Well-known producer Suresh Babu is bankrolling the project. Since Hiranyakashyapa is a mythological film, a lot of money is going to be spent on heavy-duty special effects and CGI. If reports are to be believed, the film is being made on a lavish budget of ₹ 180 crores.

Hiranyakashyapa will not be the first big-budget extravaganza for director Gunasekhar. He has previously made several successful period dramas such as Okkadu (2003), Arjun (2004) and Rudhramadevi (2015). His next Rana Daggubati starrer will be a multilingual film made in Telugu, Tamil, and Hindi.

Meanwhile, Rana Daggubati is presently working on his next film, Aranya. Directed by Prabhu Solomon, Aranya will also be a multilingual project. He is also playing an important role in the upcoming Bollywood film, Housefull 4. Also starring Akshay Kumar, Bobby Deol, Riteish Deshmukh, Pooja Hegde, Kriti Kharbanda and Kriti Sanon, the comic-caper is set to buzz into cinemas on Diwali 2019.
